About the Role
Our client, a leading private education group with operations across South Africa, is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance department in Sandton, Gauteng . This role will focus on providing critical financial insights and strategic planning support specifically for the education sector operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting skills, coupled with an understanding of the unique financial dynamics within the education industry. This position requires a proactive individual capable of driving financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for educational institutions.
- Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying key variances and providing actionable insights.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis of key business drivers, market trends, and competitive landscapes within the education sector.
- Support strategic initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and new project evaluations from a financial perspective.
- Collaborate with operational teams across various educational campuses to gather financial data and support their financial planning needs.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement within the education group.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of board materials and presentations.
- Mentor junior members of the finance team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CA(SA), CFA, or ACCA are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or a related role, with a strong preference for experience within the education sector or a related service industry.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis using Excel and other financial software.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and management reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and BI tools is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and in-office responsibilities in Sandton, Gauteng .
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
